Breast implants come in different shapes and sizes. Most patients choose the teardrop implant over the round implant because it has more volume near the bottom of the breasts, closely resembling a natural curve. Various incision areas are available for implants: Armpit Incision: A 2-3 cm incision is made along the armpit crease. Pereola Incision: An incision is made along the pereola. This method is suitable for dark skin. Under Breast Line Incision: A 3-4 cm incision is made along the under breast line.
Dual Plane Breast Augmentation
With this procedure, an additional implant is placed underneath the muscle, creating a more natural appearance using two implants instead of just one. Implants can be placed underneath the mammary glandular cell, the fascia, or the muscle.
Breast Reduction & Lift
Aging, childbirth, and breast feeding contribute to the natural progression of volume loss and droopiness in the breasts, referred to as mastoptosis. Surgery methods for mastoptosis correction and breast reduction are similar, except for the removal of areola tissue. In addition to the discomfort of having very large breasts, insecurity issues and health problems can arise as well, so surgery that reduces size and regains elasticity is ideal. Depending of the extent of the reduction or lift, procedures can fall into the following 4 categories:
Breast Reduction with Lift - vertical pattern incision: For patients who wish to reduce their breast size and restore elasticity and firmness. This procedure is the most common method for mastoptosis correction and breast reduction because 500-1000g of breast tissue can be removed during the mastoptosis correction. Breast Reduction - anchor pattern incision: For patients with extremely large breasts or severe mastoptosis. Breast Lift – implants: For patients with mastoptosis due to breast-feeding, which causes the skin to lose elasticity due to contractions of the mammary gland tissue. Breast Lift - areola incision:For patients who desire higher placed nipples while retaining the current shape and volume of their breasts.
Reconstructive Surgery
If you are a breast cancer survivor, congratulations for conquering the disease! If you’re looking to restore your feminine figure, the following options are here for you:
Tissue Expander through Implantation
This procedure is most common because of the development of breast implants, the short recovery period of only three days, and the absence of scars. However, the surgery needs to be performed twice, once to insert the tissue expander tool and a second time to insert the implant. Most patients choose the teardrop implant over the round implant because it has more volume near the bottom of the breasts, closely resembling a natural curve.
Flap Reconstruction
The Flap Reconstruction method uses tissue from other parts of the body for breast reconstruction, such as the back, buttocks, thigh or abdomen. The advantage of this is that excess fat is removed from unwanted areas, in addition to creating naturally shaped breasts. However, the recovery period is longer than the Implantation method; if the abdomen tissues were harvested, it is difficult to straighten your back for about a month after surgery. Scarring may be visible in areas where the tissue was harvested, but patients who have larger excisions on their chest may choose this option.
